2005 Napa Valley Meritage - Epos
Bonneau’s Epos release is a Meritage Style red wine made primarily from Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon grapes selected from two outstanding vineyards. Stagecoach Vineyard is located in the hills rising east, above the town of Napa. Kane Vineyard is located just outside St.Helena at the north end of Napa Valley. This elegant red wine is masterfully blended with Petit Verdot and Malbec grapes selected from premium vineyards in Napa Valley.
In the glass, there appears a deep purple-ruby color along with wafting aromas of blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, Mission fig, cassis and allspice. The flavors are complex with each varietal contributing its particular nuance in a Bordeaux style. The full fruit flavors are nicely integrated with a modest amount high quality French oak. The texture is rich and satisfying with round tannins leading to a silky, elegant finish. This wine is made to enjoy with meals in its youth, however it will continue to gain depth and richness for at least 7-10 years.
